Ingredients

For the Honey Garlic Prawn Rice Bowls
  • 1 lb prawns peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup jasmine rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 2 green onions sliced for garnish
For Garnish
  • Sesame seeds
  • Fresh cilantro

Equipment

  • Medium Saucepan
  • Large Skillet
  • Small Bowl

Method

  1. Step 1: Rinse jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until rice is tender and water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 5 minutes.
  2. Step 2: In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
  3. Step 3: In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add prawns and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they turn pink and opaque.
  4. Step 4: Pour the honey garlic sauce over the cooked prawns and stir to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Step 5: To serve, divide the cooked rice into bowls. Top with the honey garlic prawns, and drizzle any remaining sauce from the skillet over the top.
  6. Step 6: Garnish with sliced green onions, sesame seeds, and fresh cilantro if desired. Enjoy!
