Method
- Step 1: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Don’t forget to drain any excess fat for a better flavor!
- Step 2: Add the taco seasoning to the cooked beef and follow the package instructions, usually adding water and simmering for a few minutes until it's well mixed.
- Step 3: In a separate skillet, heat a small amount of cooking oil over medium heat.
- Step 4: Place one corn tortilla in the skillet and add a portion of the seasoned beef on top.
- Step 5: Using a spatula, gently smash the taco down to create a flat shape. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the bottom is crispy.
- Step 6: Flip the taco and cook for another 2-3 minutes until the other side is crispy.
- Step 7: Remove the taco from the skillet and place it on a plate.
- Step 8: Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, and salsa as desired.
- Step 9: Repeat the process with the remaining tortillas and filling.
- Step 10: Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious smash tacos!
Notes
If you have any leftovers (though I doubt it!), store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, simply pop them in the oven or air fryer to regain that crispy goodness.
