Ingredients

For the Bang Bang Shrimp
  • 8 oz linguine or spaghetti Your favorite pasta will work perfectly here.
  • 1 lb large shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup buttermilk This is key for tender, flavorful shrimp.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour For breading the shrimp.
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs These give the shrimp a delightful crunch.
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise The creamy base for our sauce.
  • 2 tbsp sweet chili sauce Adds a touch of sweetness.
  • 1 tbsp sriracha Adjust to your spice preference!
  • 2 tbsp olive oil For frying the shrimp to perfection.
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup green onions chopped, for garnish
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Large Pot
  • Bowls

Method

  1. Step 1: First, cook the linguine or spaghetti according to package instructions. Once it's done, drain and set it aside.
  2. Step 2: While the pasta is cooking, soak the shrimp in buttermilk for about 30 minutes. This step is crucial for tender shrimp!
  3. Step 3: In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Step 4: Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk and coat each shrimp in the flour mixture, then dip it in the panko breadcrumbs to coat evenly.
  5. Step 5: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the breaded shrimp and cook until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Once cooked, remove from the skillet and set aside.
  6. Step 6: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  7. Step 7: Mix together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha in a bowl to create the Bang Bang sauce.
  8. Step 8: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with garlic, toss to combine, then stir in the Bang Bang sauce until the pasta is well coated.
  9. Step 9: Gently fold in the cooked shrimp and top with chopped green onions before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Leftovers? No problem! Store any uneaten pasta in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. When you're ready to enjoy it again, simply reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop, adding a splash of water or broth to keep it from drying out.
